Hi, I'm Tee Green, The Mentorship Coach™.
I believe mentorship is one of the most powerful forces for transforming lives, developing leaders, strengthening organizations, and creating lasting impact.
Yet too often, mentorship is treated as an afterthought—something nice to have rather than something essential to growth.
My life's work has been dedicated to changing that.
I am the author of the #1 International Best-Selling book Guerrilla Business Development for Government Contractors: How Mentorship Can Explode Your Growth, where I introduce a new approach to mentorship—one that transforms it from a support function into a strategic advantage.
Through my work as a speaker, consultant, coach, and trainer, I help leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, and organizations leverage mentorship to improve leadership development, decision-making, employee engagement, succession planning, and long-term performance.
My mission is simple:
To help leaders create success that outlives them.
Why Mentorship?
Throughout my life, I have learned a simple truth:
No one succeeds alone.
In fact, one of my most well-known mentorship quotes came from reflecting on my own journey:
"Show me anyone who has accomplished one thing by themselves, and I'll show you someone who's never accomplished anything."
— Tee Green, The Mentorship Coach™
Every meaningful achievement in my life can be traced back to someone who invested in me, challenged me, believed in me, or helped me see potential I couldn't yet see in myself.
Mentorship changed my life.
Today, my goal is to help others create that same impact for the people they lead, serve, and care about.
Where It All Began
I was born in Charleston, South Carolina and raised in circumstances that taught me some of life's most important lessons early.
I am the third youngest of six sisters and five brothers.
My mother was one of the strongest leaders I have ever known. She overcame challenges that would have broken many people and somehow made poverty feel like wealth through love, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to others.
At one point, she raised and cared for eleven children in a home that many would have considered far too small. Some were her biological children. Others were not. To her, it didn't matter.
She loved, mentored, guided, and raised them all.
My father faced significant challenges after serving in Vietnam, but I witnessed him overcome adversity and become a mentor not only to fellow veterans but to countless others in the community. He became someone people respected, trusted, and sought out for guidance.
Although my parents separated when I was young, one of the greatest blessings of my life is returning home and hearing people independently describe both of them as some of the best people they have ever known.
Their example shaped my understanding of leadership long before I knew what leadership was.
The Teachers Who Didn't Believe
Like many people, my path was not always supported by those around me.
As a teenager, I had teachers who doubted my potential.
One high school Spanish teacher told me directly that I would never amount to anything.
At the time, those words could have become a permanent label.
Instead, they became fuel.
Fortunately, I also had mentors who saw something different.
They encouraged me, challenged me, and helped me develop the confidence to pursue opportunities that seemed far beyond my reach.
Their belief changed the trajectory of my life.
Service, Leadership, and Sacrifice
After graduating from The Citadel, I earned a commission as an officer in the United States military.
I later had the privilege of serving within the U.S. Special Operations community, leading and supporting missions in some of the most demanding environments in the world.
During my military career, I deployed in support of operations in Afghanistan and other regions throughout Southwest Asia and the Pacific.
For my actions in Afghanistan, I was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
Eventually, injuries sustained during service led to my medical retirement as a Major.
The military taught me many lessons about leadership, resilience, teamwork, accountability, and performance under pressure.
But perhaps the most important lesson was this:
The best leaders are mentors.
The leaders who made the greatest impact on my life were not simply supervisors. They invested in people. They developed others. They built future leaders.
Those lessons continue to shape my work today.
Entrepreneurship and Business Growth
After leaving the military, I entered the world of entrepreneurship and business development.
Over the years, I have worked with organizations ranging from startups and small businesses to large corporations, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and international institutions.
I have helped organizations pursue billions of dollars in opportunities, develop leaders, strengthen teams, and improve performance.
Through this experience, I noticed a pattern.
The organizations that consistently outperformed others were not necessarily the ones with the biggest budgets, the largest staffs, or the most impressive credentials.
They were the organizations that intentionally developed people.
Mentorship was often the difference.
This realization eventually became the foundation for my book, my consulting work, and the frameworks I teach today.
A Defining Moment
One of the greatest honors of my life came when I was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA).
Since 1938, the program has recognized Americans who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and commitment to improving society.
Past honorees have included leaders, innovators, athletes, entertainers, public servants, and presidents whose impact has been felt throughout history.
Receiving this recognition was both humbling and transformative.
Prior to the event, I was asked to provide a quote explaining why I had achieved the success I had experienced.
I searched for a quote that captured what mentorship had meant in my life.
I couldn't find one.
So I wrote my own.
The quote has since become one of the foundations of my work:
"Show me anyone who has accomplished one thing by themselves, and I'll show you someone who's never accomplished anything."

Later, after delivering my speech and meeting attendees, many people shared how the message had impacted them personally and professionally.
Some told me I had given them hope.
Others told me they saw themselves differently after hearing the speech.
Those conversations changed me.
They made me ask a simple question:
Why don't I do this more?
That question ultimately led to the creation of The Mentorship Coach™.
The Mentorship Coach™
Today, I help leaders build cultures where mentorship becomes a competitive advantage.
Through keynote speaking, workshops, consulting, coaching, and leadership development programs, I teach leaders how to:
-
Develop future leaders
-
Improve employee retention
-
Increase engagement
-
Strengthen decision-making
-
Build stronger cultures
-
Create sustainable growth
-
Leave lasting legacies
My work is built around the belief that leadership is not measured by what you accomplish personally.
Leadership is measured by what continues because you were there.
That belief became the foundation for my signature frameworks, including:
-
Transformative Mentorship™
-
The Mentorship Effect™
-
Mentorship-Driven Leadership™
-
Regulative Mentorship™
-
Acceleration vs. Braking Mentorship™
Together, these frameworks help individuals and organizations unlock the full power of mentorship as a tool for growth, performance, and human development.
My Greatest Accomplishment
I have received awards.
I've written books.
I've built businesses.
I've spoken to audiences of thousands.
I've had opportunities to work with incredible leaders and organizations around the world.
Yet none of those achievements compare to my greatest blessing.
I am the blessed father of two amazing sons.
More than any title, award, or accomplishment, being their father is the role I cherish most.
Their lives remind me daily why mentorship matters.
The greatest legacy any of us leaves behind is the impact we have on the people entrusted to our care.
Beyond the Stage
When I'm not speaking, coaching, writing, or consulting, you'll usually find me enjoying what I call my "3 Gs":
-
Gym
-
Grilling
-
Gardening
And while many people call fishing a hobby, I consider it more of an obsession.
Let's Grow Together
Whether you're a leader looking to develop your team, an entrepreneur trying to build a business that doesn't depend entirely on you, or an organization seeking to create a stronger culture, mentorship can help you achieve more than you ever could alone.
I would be honored to be part of your journey.
Because leadership improves the moment mentorship begins.
And success becomes sustainable when it is shared.
